LEAD CVA calculator

LBI for Lung Health provides with this R-Shiny Dashboard (LEAD CVA calculator) a tool to calculate standardized values (z-scores) for the four pulsatile hemodynamics markers, which are crucial factors in evaluating vascular aging. They enable researchers and clinicians to assess vascular health more precisely by determining individual vascular marker percentiles.

The standardized values are based on age and sex for four cardiovascular parameters:

  • Pulse wave velocity
  • Augmentation index
  • Backward wave amplitude
  • Forward wave amplitude

LEAD DXA Scan Z-scores calculator

The exact composition of the body can be measured using the DXA scan. This produces an accurate pictureof bone density, muscle and fat tissue. Reduced bone density can be recognised at an early stage and general fitness can be determined.

Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry ( DXA ) is a validated technique for assessing bone mineral density and body composition. DXA determines body compartments and bone mineral density by measuring the differences in attenuation of two energies after the transmission of low dose X-rays through the body.

Compared to other techniques such as computed tomography, DXA exposes individuals to a lower dose of radiation and the scan time is shorter than MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) measurements.

In order to be able to compare the data of individuals, it is important to have reference values based on a validated reference population. The reference data were generated on the basis of individuals from the LEAD cohort.Using this website you can easily calculate your DXA Scan Z-scores and compare in which percentile your values lie:
